Cutting Edge 4K Production Studios For Home-Based Learning

Ideal Systems has completed the building of new professional production studios in Singapore for Kaplan Higher Education Institute. The new Kaplan Media Production Suite (KMPS) consists of two state-of-the-art NDI® based 4K enabled video production studios to support Kaplan’s home-based learning programmes for its students from Singapore and over 35 countries and regions. The multi award winning Kaplan Higher Education Institute is a leading Private Education Institution in Singapore and is part of US based Graham Holdings which has over twelve thousand employees and one million students worldwide.

The studios are designed using the TriCaster® video production system which is capable of producing 4K UHD content for live streaming or streaming pre-recorded classes on-demand. By using the latest NDI® video networking standard, studio operations could be dramatically simplified enabling the KMPS to be managed by a two-person production team who can operate the studio production and recording systems, lighting systems and post-production systems.

The build consists of two green screen chroma key virtual studios. One of the studios is used for lectures is fitted out with a learning glassboard. The learning glassboard allows lecturers to write notes while maintaining face-to-face contact with students where this is unachievable using conventional whiteboard and blackboard. The lecturers write normally from left-to-right and the image will be flipped so the students can view the notes correctly from their monitors at home. The studios will also be used to create Kaplan’s corporate communications content and other marketing videos. Systems operation training was provided by Ideal’s NewTek™ certified trainer and the expert studio team from Ideal Systems worked closely with Kaplan’s appointed consultant, EAA Consultants Pte Ltd. on the system design and project management to ensure a successful and on time delivery.
