Meeting Room and Town Hall AV System for the Newly Renovated Office at DesignSingapore Council.
As part of its Design 2035 Masterplan, DesignSingapore Council transformed its office into a modern, collaborative workplace equipped for hybrid meetings, town halls, public engagement and events.
IDEAL Systems designed, installed, programmed and commissioned a complete Audio Visual solution across the office, including user training and post-installation support. In total, eight meeting rooms, a boardroom, collaboration spaces, event and common areas were upgraded with modern AV technology, including three Microsoft Teams Rooms.
About DesignSingapore Council
The design sector is poised to enhance Singapore’s value proposition and contribute to its economic growth and progress. Thus, the DesignSingapore Council was established in 2003 as the national agency that promotes design.
The Council moved to the National Design Centre in 2013 and, after more than a decade there, undertook a complete office refresh. The renovation created an opportunity to replace ageing AV equipment with an integrated solution that would better support modern collaboration and visitor engagement.
Boardroom:
The executive boardroom was equipped with Microsoft Teams Room featuring:
· MAXHUB 120-inch SMD All-in-one LED Wall
· Canon PTZ cameras positioned for audience and presenter view
· Lenovo ThinkSmart Teams Room UC Engine
· Sennheiser ceiling microphone for conference call
· RCF ceiling speakers
· Netgear network switch
· Yealink Teams Room scheduling panel
· Extron DTP Crosspoint 8x4 Presentation Matrix Switcher allowing users to select presentation sources including HDMI, USB-C and Microsoft Teams content to the LED screen
· Furman Power Sequencer to ensure the above mentioned AV equipment powers on and off in the correct sequence.
The room features a main LED screen for presentation and a secondary confidence monitor for presenters. The solution provides a premium hybrid meeting experience with high-quality video, audio and simple one-touch meeting control.
Brainstorm Bay:
The Brainstorm Bay provides similar collaboration capabilities to the boardroom but is designed as a BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) meeting space. It features a Panasonic projector with a motorised LAV projector screen, a MAXHUB secondary display, a Sennheiser ceiling microphone and a Canon PTZ camera for audience. An Extron keypad provides one-touch control of the AV system. Pressing "On" automatically lowers the projection screen, powers on the projector and ceiling microphone, activates the camera to its default preset, and selects USB-C as the default presentation input.
Town Hall and Foyer Area:
The multipurpose common area functions as both a town hall space and a public-facing foyer for visitors. IDEAL Systems installed:

· MAXHUB 65-inch 4K All-in-One interactive display with mobile cart
· Extron presentation switching, AV-over-IP extenders, DSP and power amplification
· Canon PTZ cameras
· Lenovo ThinkSmart Teams Room UC Engine
· RCF ceiling speakers
· Sennheiser wireless microphones
· Netgear network switch
The large LED wall serves multiple purposes, supporting town halls, media briefings, award ceremonies, presentations and smaller events. Outside of events, it is also a public-facing area where we display corporate content for visitors and guests entering the DesignSingapore Council office.
Meeting Rooms
Nine small and medium-sized meeting rooms were upgraded with Samsung 43-inch, 65-inch and 85 -inch displays with scheduled power on/off, together with MAXHUB 86-inch 4K interactive displays. The rooms also feature wireless presentation dongles, Yealink Teams Room Booking Panels and one Microsoft Teams Room.

During system testing, we discovered an echo issue in both the boardroom and town hall. The investigation found that two identical audio sources had been routed to the same speaker output. We rerouted the Extron DTP CrossPoint audio to a separate output, which resolved the issue.

Since completion, the new AV systems have become an integral part of daily operations. Staff now use the upgraded facilities for hybrid meetings, town halls, media briefings, ceremonies and internal collaboration. The modern meeting spaces have significantly improved the user experience, particularly for hybrid meetings where both in-room and remote participants can clearly see and hear one another.
