ADVANCED FULLY UNCOMPRESSED ST2110 MASTER CONTROL & PLAYOUT SYSTEM

FOR VIDEOLAND TAIWAN

Pioneering IP-Based Broadcast Infrastructure Sets New Benchmark for Television Technology in Taiwan

Ideal Systems (Taiwan) Media Technology Co., Ltd., one of Asia's leading broadcast system integrators, announced the successful deployment of an advanced uncompressed ST2110-based Master Control Room (MCR) and Playout System for Videoland Television Network. This project represents a significant leap forward in broadcast technology for Taiwan, establishing a new benchmark for IP-native television operations in the region.

PROJECT OVERVIEW

The new Master Control and Playout System, designed and integrated by Ideal Systems, replaces traditional baseband SDI infrastructure with a state-of-the-art IP-based architecture built entirely around the SMPTE ST2110 standard for professional media over IP networks. The system delivers uncompressed 1080i HD video signals over standard IP networking infrastructure, providing unprecedented flexibility, scalability, and operational efficiency.

KEY TECHNOLOGY PARTNERS

The system leverages best-in-class solutions from industry-leading manufacturers:

• Pebble Automation — Enterprise automation and integrated channel servers providing 10 channels playout system. The deployment is engineered in a triple-redundant configuration across two independent systems, with a geographically separated disaster recovery site ensuring continuous service delivery. This hybrid approach of 10+10 channel ST2110 IP at the primary site and 10 channel SDI at the recovery site allows Videoland to embrace next-generation IP infrastructure without compromising the resilience of its operations demand.

• Mindo — SDI/IP fusion control and monitoring system with SMPTE 2022-7 seamless IP protection switching

• Telestream — SPG9000 PTP Grandmaster for precision timing synchronization (1+1 redundant configuration)

• Cisco — Nexus series switches with PTP Media Profiles for professional media networking

• Arkona — BLADE//runner IP/SDI gateways, signal processors, and multiviewers with NMOS IS-04/IS-05 support

TECHNICAL HIGHLIGHTS

True ST2110 Native Architecture

The system is built from the ground up around uncompressed ST2110 IP transport, enabling full signal quality without the artifacts associated with compression.

Hybrid SDI/IP Flexibility

The system seamlessly manages both ST2110 IP and traditional SDI signals. The Arkona BLADE//runner gateways provide bidirectional conversion between IP and baseband domains.

Advanced Monitoring & Control

Mindo's mScope unified management platform provides comprehensive control across both IP and SDI domains through a single, intuitive interface.

Enterprise-Grade Redundancy

Comprehensive redundancy at every level: N+M server redundancy, dual redundant control systems, dual PTP Grandmasters, and dual network paths—eliminating single points of failure.

STRATEGIC SIGNIFICANCE

This deployment positions Videoland at the forefront of broadcast technology innovation in Taiwan and across the Asia-Pacific region:

• Operational Efficiency — Simplified signal routing and flexible resource allocation through software-defined workflows

• Future-Proofing — Architecture designed to support emerging technologies, including UHD, HDR, and cloud-native operations

• Cost Optimisation — Leverages standard IT networking equipment while reducing proprietary broadcast infrastructure dependencies

• Scalability — IP-native design enables straightforward expansion without fundamental system redesign

The project won the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting+ Awards (APB+) 2026 in the Multi-Channel Playout System - Taiwan category, powered by Pebble.
